Filmed: Woman steals mirror from Neil Road cafe by wrapping it in jacket, Singapore News

With the aesthetics of coffee shops these days, it’s no wonder some customers are tempted to steal some of their accessories.

Speaking to AsiaOne, cafe owner The Coffee Code Singapore, who only wanted to be known as Gordon, said his team realized a mirror from their store was missing on Sunday (June 9).

“My colleagues opened the store and found that the mirror had disappeared,” says the 31-year-old man.

After going through CCTV footage, which has since been uploaded to the cafe’s Instagram stories, the team discovered that the mirror had been stolen at around 2.07am that morning. The cafe is located on Neil Road.

In the footage, a woman can be seen gesturing towards someone off-camera before removing her jacket.

She then crouched down to pick up the mirror – which was on display on the floor – along with the jacket.

She can then be seen running away from the cafe, with another woman next to her.

“When Coffee Code’s mirror is too cute to resist, you can’t help but steal it from home,” the Instagram story read.

“Goodbye little one, I hope they let you come back soon.”

Gordon said the mirror was custom made, but he is unsure of the price because it was purchased by his partner.

“I feel shocked and upset. Why is the young woman doing this?” he told us.

“This is the first time anything has been stolen from us since we opened on September 1 last year.”

He also shared that in the meantime, they plan to get another mirror.

Gordon said he has since filed a police report for the theft.

AsiaOne has contacted police for further details.
