Da Nang — Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) has added a self-service bag drop for passengers, with Taiwanese airline StarLux Airlines being the first carrier to do so. use for its flights departing from Da Nang.

AHT said that in the process of building a “smart” terminal, it offered self-check-in kiosks to passengers last year, with Korean Air being the first to use the service.

The two automated systems, self-check-in and baggage drop-off, are expected to help reduce congestion and passenger waiting times.

Đỗ Trọng Hậu, deputy general manager of AHT, said the company has signed a partnership with FPT Software to drive digital transformation across the airport, aiming to become Vietnam’s first “smart” terminal.

He said AI-powered cameras have been installed in flight procedure processing areas, while more mobile applications have been used to provide intelligent assistance solutions, as well as touchscreen systems in the terminal for passengers.

The “smart” facilities will begin to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of this year, AHT said.

The Da Nang International Terminal was rated five stars by international airport rating agency Skytrax earlier this year.

AHT announced that it will soon offer the use of software data for all airlines operating flights to and from Da Nang International Airport, including automatic boarding gates and automatic gates.

Meanwhile, every Friday evening, AHT and the Hoi An Art Troupe offer traditional art performances to entertain passengers at the boarding gates.

Da Nang has 24 direct air routes, including 16 international, serving approximately 112 flights per day. The terminal is designed to handle 28 million passengers and 200,000 tonnes of cargo per year by 2030. — VNS
