Chelsea ‘consider’ shock Conor Gallagher transfer and U-turn as unexpected ‘deal’ reached

Chelsea have already appointed a new head coach and completed a first transfer of the summer before the window even opens. But all that is about to change.

If things were ever a bit fast-paced and unpredictable (we were talking about Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank becoming manager before settling on Enzo Maresca just a few weeks ago), then this is about to accelerate. On Friday, June 14, the window officially starts and the games can begin in earnest.

A selection of players already linked to the club include Michael Olise, Benjamin Sesko (now banned), James Trafford (probably not), Julian Alvarez (almost certainly not), Alvaro Valles, Youssouff Fofana, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Dominic Solanke, Victor Osimhen (also probably banned), Artem Dovbyk and Ivan Toney. All of this happens before things really get going.

So here football.london brings you the latest news from Stamford Bridge, both the ins and outs, with a snippet of analysis of the most recent headlines and reports.

Gallagher contract reversal

According to the Guardian, Chelsea would be willing to keep Conor Gallagher this summer. It is said that if no decision is made for him – Aston Villa and Tottenham are interested in signing him – then a new deal will be considered.

While this doesn’t go so far as to suggest that a real change has been made, it is written that their position on the midfielder could still become a bigger effort to tie him down to a new contract rather than trying to expel him. The noise at the club around Gallagher is said to have changed, and while they are still open to offers for him, they are also happy to have future discussions.
