Chef and media personality Tom Kerridge left his wife “horrified” after calling her “unemployable” during an awkward moment.

On the Stirring It Up podcast hosted by Andi and Miquita Oliver, the 50-year-old blurted out the unfortunate late-night comment about his wife Beth Cullen-Kerridge.

It came after presenter Andi admitted to feeling “unemployable”, prompting Tom to respond: “I told Beth she was unemployable.” »

Beth, who has been married to the BBC’s Great British Menu judge since 2000, added: “I was quite horrified.”

Tom defended his impulsive comment, explaining: “It was one of those comments I made late at night around 11:30 p.m. while watching TV. And then I thought oh holy shit, what the hell I started here?”

Host Andi joked: “It’s like, why would you say that to your wife? I’ve only met her once and I wouldn’t say that.”

Miquita, trying to rationalize Tom’s comment, said he could have meant that his wife was a “free spirit”, reports the Express. “That’s exactly what I was able to explain about three and a half hours later,” he added, cheekily alluding to the couple’s argument over the remark.

Tom has recently been candid about his married life, revealing that Beth proposed just six weeks after they first met in a bar in Camden, London. Some time ago, Tom admitted that he had no plans to go out in the evening after a long day at work, but his friends convinced him otherwise. Little did he know that he was about to meet the woman he would fall in love with.
