COLUMBUS, Georgia (WRBL) – Georgia’s Third Congressional District race made a quick stop in Columbus Thursday afternoon.

Candidate Brian Jack, who worked in former President Donald Trump’s administration and was endorsed by Trump, brought former Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson to a rally in lunch time.

The rally drew more than 100 people to the DoubleTree Hotel.

Jack appealed to those close to the former president to help him win the vacant seat. Before the primary in May, Jack also brought Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake to Columbus.

Jack is in a runoff Tuesday with former state senator and U.S. Army Ranger Mike Dugan of Carrollton.

During this afternoon’s gathering, Dr. Carson received a warm welcome from rally attendees as he discussed his friend Jack. In an exclusive interview with WRBL, Carson says presidential and congressional elections are equally imperative to fundamentally changing the state of America.

In-person early voting across Georgia and Muscogee County for the congressional race ends Friday. In Columbus, residents can vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Services Center on Macon Road. The second round of voting will take place on June 18.
