Woman posts update after £12,000 cruise canceled days before following mistake in social media post

Tiffany Banks says company won’t ‘admit guilt’ to her

The woman whose cruise was canceled a few days earlier gave an update on the situation.

Tiffany Banks and her family’s vacation dreams were shattered after an entire year of planning their trips.

The family, from Kentucky, US, had their $15,000 (£11,750) cruise canceled without their knowledge, with Tiffany reporting the issue to TikTok to share how angry and disappointed she was at this subject.

They were excited to board the Carnival Celebration cruise ship this summer, after paying for everything, but she received an unexpected email detailing off-ship excursion cancellations.

Tiffany called Carnival to investigate and unfortunately discovered that her entire trip had been canceled just two days before the scheduled departure.

Apparently, a Carnival customer service representative told her that she had canceled her reservation for the largest room on the ship, worth almost £10,000, through the online system, which she claims did not not have done.

In a TikTok video posted in May, Tiffany explained that they spent a huge amount of money on the trip, including flights, accommodation, activities and excursions.

She refused a full refund along with the ship’s remaining rooms, which were the cheapest interior cabins, because the family was staying in an Airbnb in Florida hoping to get a last-minute rental.

Social media users were skeptical of Tiffany’s story, and it turns out they had a reason to be, as Carnival responded to her about what happened with the reservation.

Apparently, Tiffany and her husband shared the trip’s booking reference number on Facebook during the countdown to the vacation, and someone created an account with that number and canceled the family’s entire trip.

Tiffany claimed she was told she was “a victim of some form of identity theft” but that there had been no security breach by the cruise line.

She has since posted several updates on the situation, most recently saying the company would not “admit guilt” to her, but has apparently updated its website and policy to prevent customers from making the same mistake.

Tiffany said the move amounted to “admitting guilt without having to admit guilt.”

A Carnival representative told the New York Post: “Unfortunately, this guest did not heed well-researched and very common travel safety and security advice. »

Carnival Cruise Line told LADbible in a statement: “While we are not going to comment on a specific customer complaint or incident, it is never a good idea to post personal information about your travel plans, including a confirmation number for a reservation, which could allow a bad actor or identified thief to use this information inappropriately or even illegally.
