Conor McGregor’s return fight at UFC 303 canceled due to injury | World News

Conor McGregor’s comeback fight was canceled just two weeks before it was due to take place in Las Vegas.

The Irish mixed martial arts fighter is suffering “from an injury”, said Dana White, general manager of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

No further details were given.

This means the 35-year-old Dubliner will be unable to compete at UFC 303 on June 29, where he was scheduled to face Michael Chandler.

McGregor, who has 22 wins and six losses, did not participate CFU since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier.

The new “main event” will involve light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defending his belt against Jiri Prochazka, Mr. White said in a video on X.

He said: “There are all sorts of things going on behind the scenes, and it’s all about timing. Chandler was ready but Conor wasn’t.

“We talked about it recently at a press conference. He had a lot of obligations he had to meet.

“What you don’t want is him agreeing to a fight when he has a ton of obligations and he can’t train 100% for a fight.”

McGregor recently starred in the remake of the 1989 film Road House.
