Two New Jersey residents arrested with drugs and ,000 in cash during New York traffic stop, cops say

Two New Jersey residents face multiple drug possession charges after officers stopped their SUV in upstate New York on Wednesday and found a stash of drugs, police said.

Investigators found more than an ounce of cocaine as well as smaller amounts of crack, methamphetamine, heroin and other drugs in the SUV after the traffic stop around 5:15 p.m. on Route 90 in Canaan, the police said. New York State Police.

There was also more than $10,000 in cash in the vehicle, authorities said.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Union Township, and the passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Morristown, were arrested.

Officers made the stop for “traffic and vehicle violations,” New York State Police said.

The driver was sent to the Columbia County Jail while the passenger was released. Attorney information was not immediately available.

Canaan is about 30 miles southeast of Albany.
