Michigan middle school coach caught student choking on video

A teacher attempting to discipline a middle school student turned into an all-out assault in the hallway of a Michigan middle school. Now the boy and his family seek revenge.

Earlier this week, security footage from June 4 was released showing a former Ypsilanti Middle School employee choking a 14-year-old student with a T-shirt.

Watch the incident below:

As a result, the employee was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm by strangulation, as well as assault and battery. In addition to losing their job, the employee can no longer work in the school district and is not allowed on school grounds without any reason, according to W X Y Z.

Michel Moon, the victim in this case, and his family are particularly frustrated by the incident because the employee is a “trusted coach,” according to USA Today.

In an interview with WXYZ, his parents said the incident started because the coach, who served as a gym monitor, told him to do some push-ups because he was playing in the hallway.

His parents claimed their son had an injury to his hand and were trying to explain why he couldn’t do the exercise.

More from WXYZ:

Shortly after, Michael gets up, walks past the coach who was sitting, and enters a classroom.

Ten seconds later, the coach gets up and enters the room to look for Michael.

Once in the hallway, Michael walks in front of the coach when the man takes a shirt and wraps it around his hands and wrists before putting it around Michael’s neck. Michael can be seen struggling and his face appears discolored.

Moon’s family now plans to take legal action against the school and the former employee, saying the incident left the 14-year-old boy traumatized, according to TMZ.

Moon’s lawyer, Jordan Vahdat, told the outlet: “They have a duty to protect these children, to make sure they have a safe environment for them to learn.”
