Duke guard Jared McCain receives green room invitation for 2024 NBA Draft

Former Duke guard Jared McCain received an invitation to the green room to attend the 2024 NBA Draft with his family. according to Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress. McCain, 20, enters the NBA after having a stellar 2023-24 season at Duke. In 36 games last season, he averaged 14.3 points and five rebounds per game. He was selected to the ACC All-Rookie Team and helped the Blue Devils reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

In an interview with On3’s Pete Nakos, McCain spoke about how he had to deal with criticism on social media. “It’s difficult sometimes, especially when you lose games,” he said in April. “Everyone wants to criticize everything. But the coach made it very clear at the start of the season: it was going to happen. You just have to stick together, stick to those who truly support you through the journey. Because there are so many people who will say so many crazy things online, you just have to block them.

On3’s James Fletcher III had this to say about McCain when he projected him going to the Sacramento Kings at 13th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Here’s the clip of McCain from her NBA Mock Draft 4.0 2024: First-round projections ahead of the offseason.

“The Sacramento Kings have an intriguing core that has enjoyed varying degrees of success over the past few seasons. To take the next step, they must find the best way to improve the casting around De’Aaron Fox and Damontas Sabonis,” Fletcher wrote. “Jared McCain is not a direct replacement for a player like Malik Monk, who enters free agency, but he provides the offensive firepower needed alongside star players or off the bench. It is also a local product which clearly has its place in the picture.

ESPN recently projected McCain to be selected by the Philadelphia 76ers 16th overall in a mock draft. in this year’s NBA draft. Jeremy Woo of ESPN wrote: “The level of spacing and versatility McCain offers on offense should be attractive to the Sixers. Expect this pick to surface in trade conversations, as has team president Daryl Morey’s MO for some time.
