Trump prepares to interrupt his weekend campaign in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump is set to make a campaign stop in west Detroit this weekend.

He is scheduled to speak at a panel discussion Saturday (6/15) around 4 p.m. at Detroit’s 180 Church on Stansbury, between Schoolcraft and Grand River.

The event is by invitation only. Doors open at 1 p.m.

This comes as the former president is in town to speak at the People’s Convention at Huntington Place, a three-day event hosted Friday through Sunday by the conservative organization Turning Point Action. The event will feature three dozen high-profile Republican speakers, including former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Detroit’s Dr. Ben Carson, Candace Owens, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and more.

Former President Trump last visited Michigan on May 1, for a campaign rally outside a hangar at MSB International Airport in Saginaw County.

Saturday will mark 142 days until the 2024 presidential election.
