Summer meal programs offered throughout Northeast Indiana and Ohio

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — For those in need of a place to grab a meal during the summer months, many community locations across Indiana and Ohio are offering free meals for children.


Here is a list of some of the free summer food programs in Northwest Indiana and Ohio.

Indiana Department of Education Summer Food Service Program

The Indiana Department of Education, in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, offers children 18 and under one free meal per day. Participating counties are Allen, Huntington, Wells, Adams, DeKalb and Noble County. You can find a list of participating sites on the Indiana Department of Education website.

Allen County Public Library

The Allen County Public Library offers free lunches in partnership with FWCS at eight library branches. Children 18 and under are invited to lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. weekdays until July 26. To learn more about participating locations, visit the Allen County Public Library website.

East Noble County

East Noble County offers free lunches to children ages 1-18 for East Noble School Corporation households. The district asks participating households to limit free meals to one meal per day to ensure enough meals for all children. Noble Central Community School

Central Noble Community Schools is offering free meals to children 18 and under from June 3-26. Those needing breakfast or lunch can come to one of three pick-up points Monday through Friday. For more information and exact pickup locations, visit the Central Noble School website.

Bluffton-Harrison MSD

Bluffton-Harrison MSD is offering free lunches to children 18 and under from June 3 to July 26. Adults can also pick up lunch for $3.40, but meals must be eaten at the two sites offered in the district. Discover the free lunches offered by the district on their website.

YWCA Van Wert Summer Food Program

Children 18 and under are invited to breakfast and lunch at First United Methodist Church of Van Wert in partnership with the YWCA. You can enjoy breakfast from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. This is the 29th year the YWCA has offered free meals and summer activities to the community. Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission

From June 3 to July 25, the Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission or NOCAC will work alongside the Ohio Department of Education to provide free meals to children in the community. The Summer Food Program provides children ages 1-18 and up to 21 with disabilities a place to eat for free, with no income or ID required.
