Gabby Petito’s letter to Brian Laundrie asks him to stop insulting her

NEW YORK — In a letter written before what was supposed to be a cross-country romantic adventure, Gabby Petito declared her love for Brian Laundrie — her fiancé and alleged murderer — but she also asked that he stop ” insult”.

The heartbreaking note was among more than 350 pages of documents released by the FBI in connection with the case, which gripped the country and made headlines for weeks. In the handwritten missive, Petito references an argument with Laundrie, then begs her future husband to move on, assuring him that he is not alone.

“Brian, you know how much I love you, so (and I write this with love) please stop crying and stop insulting me because we are a team and I am here with you,” she wrote.

Although she doesn’t provide details, Petito apologizes for getting “upset over a stupid piece of paper,” adding that her anger and frustration comes from a place of love.

“Yes, I can be a child sometimes, I know, but it’s because you give me this energy and I love you too much, it hurts so much,” she wrote. “So you’re in pain, it’s killing me. I’m not trying to be negative, but I’m frustrated that I can’t do more.

Petito, a Long Island native, said she would also help him repair a van when he “returns from (New York),” likely the same vehicle the couple used to embark on their fateful road trip.

“We can work on the van together and those are OUR dreams now,” she wrote.

“So I hope you understand when I’m upset, it’s because I love you too much,” Petito concluded. “Now stop crying!!! And come home and say you love me with a big hug.

As an aspiring travel influencer and blogger, Petito embarked on a cross-country trip with Laundrie on July 2, 2021. His family became concerned when Laundrie returned to his parents’ house in North Port, Florida alone , September 1.

Petito’s body was found Sept. 19 at a campground near Grand Teton National Park in northwest Wyoming, and a coroner concluded she died of strangulation.

Laundrie later committed suicide and admitted he was responsible for Petito’s death in a notebook found near his body in Florida’s Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.
