LEVEL 1: Evacuations Ready Issued for Neff Road in Prescott, State Resource Mobilized

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Washington State Fire Marshal has mobilized help for an estimated 250-acre fire on Neff Road near Prescott on Saturday, June 15.

According to a news release issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire broke out at 2:22 p.m. and burned grass, brush, crops and buildings. The fire also threatened neighboring homes, triggering LEVEL 1: evacuations ready for residents near Neff Road.

The marshal’s office said North Walla Walla County Fire District Chief Jim Ruffcorn requested support from state resources. Fire specialists and a response team from Camp Murray joined county crews to fight the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
