Steal Nate Berkus’ Easy Decorating Idea to Channel One of Summer’s Hottest Design Trends

Berkus has used tree accents in various of his properties, truly embracing the biophilic focus. For example, he used a large olive tree at the entrance to his Greenwich Village penthouse, which he obtained from The Old Yew Plant Shop. This is a living black olive tree, planted in a period stone planter. This makes it look like it has been growing in this planter for centuries and adds gravity to the space.

But that’s not all. Berkus also added a huge olive tree to his vacation home. “When you bring the outdoors in,” Berkus wrote in an Instagram post showing off his design. “This is our living room in Montauk where we have a large olive tree that I love.” The tree appears to be at least eight feet tall, which creates an imposing impression. The earthy atmosphere was accentuated by other pieces in the room, such as the stone fireplace, rough wooden coffee tables, and earthenware pottery.
