Firefighters are used to receiving calls about cats stuck in trees, but this one was a little unusual. A driver stopped in front of Ladder 158 members at their Queens fire station Monday as they observed a moment of silence during a 9/11 tribute, saying there was an animal in his engine, according to Lt. Robert Schlaffer.

That’s when firefighter Anthony Caliendo, who is also a mechanic, intervened. He examined the automobile and found a kitten trapped in the wheel well, the department said in an Instagram post.

Unfortunately, getting the frightened feline out wasn’t as simple as lifting him up. The firefighters got out their equipment and were able to remove the wheel, but the trouble didn’t stop there. new video about nails and kitten

They needed support from an unlikely source.

“There was some kind of bar that secured it and kept it from getting out, so we used Dawn dish soap and lathered it up and finally I was able to get the kitten out,” Caliendo said. new video about nails and kitten

The video showed Caliendo pulling the cat from where it was staying, while others stood by to help.
