Demi Vollering ready for Women’s Tour de France after Switzerland’s double victory: “I know I can completely exhaust myself”

Demi Vollering is aiming for the Women’s Tour de France and the Olympics later this summer and she is having a monster Women’s Tour de Suisse so far. The Dutchman has now won two stages out of two and is increasing his lead.

“The last climb was very hard. I saw halfway that I was only third, but then the moment where I really wanted to attack came to the limit,” Vollering said in a post-race interview. “I know I can completely exhausting myself in the final of a time trial, I did it and fortunately it was enough for the victory, I also extend my lead in the general classification, I am also happy with that.

The Team SD Worx-ProTime driver won both stages, finishing in Villars-sur-Ollon. She beat Elisa Longo Borghini today by 18 seconds and now has a lead of 1:26 minutes after the last two days of racing. This is the best sign that Vollering could know, with the Tour de France Femmes not far away on the program.

“I feel good. I’m certainly not at the top of my form yet, because it’s not a Tour where you have to reach your peak. But I’m surprised by my current level of form. I’m very happy. I hope I can continue on this path towards my biggest goals.”

“If you look at the rankings, I’m actually doing well. For our team it will mainly be about not letting a large group leave over the next two days. We have good runners who know how to manage the terrain well over the next few days. For some riders on our team, there are still chances of success here. I hope we can compete in two more good stages. I have great confidence in that,” she concluded.
