Williams, Holcombe headline Illinois Hall of Fame class of 2024

The 2024 Illinois Hall of Fame class is out — and it’s a good one.

Former Big Ten Player of the Year Frank Williams and the university’s all-time leading rusher Robert Holcombe are among eight people named to the 2024 class, according to the athletic department.

This will be the eighth class inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Williams led Illinois to a Big Ten title in 2001 and was a first-team All-American that same year. He is joined from men’s basketball by Nick Weatherspoon, once Illinois’ all-time leading scorer.

Holcombe finished his career with 4,105 yards and 16 100-yard rushing games. He is joined from football by Darrick Brownlow.

Other members of the Class of 2024 include:

• Gary Winckler (women’s track and field coach)
• Janelle flaws (football)
• Laura DeBruler Santos (volleyball)
• Pete Velasco (fencing)

The class will be inducted on Friday, October 11 at the State Farm Center.
