Recent reports indicate that Paramount has been working to develop Star Trek 4, a sequel to the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond. With Boutella’s character being accepted into Starfleet Academy at the end of the film, there is a chance that Jaylah could appear in the supposedly upcoming film.

Despite the slim odds, Sofia Boutella revealed in her conversation with Fandom Spotlite that she would love to return to this role. During her discussions, Boutella was very excited to talk about Jaylah’s character and how she loved her so much. Boutella (who recently defended Zack Snyder) revealed that she would love for her to evolve with the rest of the heroes.

I would love to see her develop with all the guys and everyone. I would love to come back to her. I love her so much. I enjoyed this experience so much. I would do it without hesitation.

She further spoke about any potential updates regarding Star Trek 4.

I don’t know if they’ll do a fourth. I hear things all the time, but I don’t know what’s going on.

Despite the secrecy that the Star Trek The franchise has held its own, with fans expecting some sort of movies and TV shows that would eventually follow up on the original. Introducing characters like Jaylah could also help bring the Star Trek franchise in modern times.

Well, the writers of the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond were so in love with the character of Ree Dolly that they decided their franchise needed it too. According to a report from Vox, Simon Pegg and Doug Jones were having trouble naming the character they created.

Since it was inspired by Jennifer Lawrence’s character in The bone of winter, Doug Jones and Simon Pegg started calling him “Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone”. The name was later reduced to J. Law, as Simon Pegg recalls, “Then we started calling him J. Law, and it became Jaylah.”

And that’s how the character of Jaylah was born. With Sofia Boutella in the iconic role, Star Trek Beyond went on to score a 7/10 on IMDB and a whopping 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2016 film is available to stream on Paramount+ in the US
