Ronald Koeman has faced fierce backlash and been branded “disgusting” over a nose-pick incident caught on camera during the Netherlands’ victory over Poland at Euro 2024.

The footage showed Koeman seemingly engaged in a crude act as his side celebrated with a 2-1 victory at Hamburg, thanks to Wout Weghorst’s late decisive goal. The match saw Adam Buksa give Poland an early advantage, with Cody Gakpo equalizing thanks to a lucky strike with his deflected shot.




Despite the Netherlands’ control of the match, the game nearly slipped away due to missed chances until the substituted Weghorst took his chance with a first-time shot that beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, netting three vital points of Group D. But this exciting result isn’t the only thing fans have been buzzing about online.

Viral footage from a TV camera focused on the Netherlands head coach captured a questionable scene. Koeman, the 61-year-old former Southampton and Barcelona manager, was filmed digging for gold in his nose before consuming the find, then getting up, licking his fingers, then d ‘use your polo shirt to wipe your nose.

The incident is reminiscent of a similarly disturbing moment from Germany’s Joachim Low at Euro 2016, after he appeared to scratch his delicate area before sniffing his fingers.
