Mumbai faces 40% water cut, BMC remains silent on acute crisis: Aaditya Thackeray

Amid the ongoing water crisis in the city, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Sunday (June 16) accused the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of giving false information about water cuts. water in Mumbai.

Additionally, the city is facing a 40 percent water cut, but municipal authorities have remained silent on this issue.

Worli MP Aaditya Thackeray said that normally in April and May the city faces 5-10 percent water cut but this time it was not implemented due to Lok Sabha polls. However, the water cut is now in place but the people have not been properly informed about it, said Aaditya Thackeray.

Thackeray further said that BMC Commissioner-Administrator Bhushan Gagrani needs to share factual data.

The development came at a time when the water level of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai fell to an all-time low on Saturday, June 15, at 5.45 percent, according to BMC data.

However, BMC officials claimed that no additional water cuts are likely to be implemented in the city in the near future. It is pertinent to note that the civic body had announced 10 per cent water reduction from June until further orders.

Last year on June 15, the water level in the lakes stood at 8.9%, while in 2022 the water level was 12.24%.
