Bannon to serve prison sentence that inspired ‘Orange is the New Black’: report

Former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon will not serve his prison sentence in one of the most sought-after “Club Fed” facilities he had hoped for.

Instead, CNN’s Katelyn Polantz reported Monday, Bannon is headed to the same prison in Danbury, Conn., that housed the woman whose memoir inspired the hit Netflix series, “Orange Is the New Black “.

“What do you learn about where Bannon could end up serving time behind bars?” asked host Jake Tapper.

“Well, Jake, it’s a real prison,” Polantz said. “Steve Bannon therefore wanted to go to a ‘Club Fed’, a prison camp, but that is not what will be possible for him in the federal system now that he must serve this four month sentence for contempt of Congress. refusing to be interviewed or to submit documents to the House.

The reason, she explained, is that he has additional charges pending in New York for his “We Build The Wall” fraud scheme, meaning he is a “slightly higher security inmate than someone who might be in a camp.”

“So he’s going to go to the prison in Danbury, Connecticut,” Polantz said. “It houses many male inmates. It also houses female inmates, including the woman who previously wrote the memoir ‘Orange is the New Black,’ if people have ever heard of it. But this prison has “Low security in Danbury, Connecticut, it’s a place where there can be violent offenders in prisons, and that’s certainly not where Steve Bannon wanted to go.”

“And the other thing we know about this, Jake, is that his lawyers are trying to keep him from going to prison, by going to the appeals courts, and they’ve even said in recent filings in court that one of the reasons he should not have to go to prison “The reason is that millions of Americans look to him for information on campaign issues, and that this. will prevent him from being a meaningful advisor in the current national presidential campaign,” Polantz added.
