Message from Brooks Koepka to Bryson DeChambeau after US Open victory, video

Brooks Koepka takes his hat off to his old rival.

Moments after Bryson DeChambeau won his second US Open title on Monday morning AEST at Pinehurst, Koepka posted a message of support on social media for the new two-time major champion.

“Welcome to the club,” Koepka wrote on X alongside an old photo of the golfers kissing.

Koepka, 34, won back-to-back US Open titles in 2017 and 2018. DeChambeau, 30, won his first in 2020.

Koepka and DeChambeau, who both play on the LIV Golf Tour, have come a long way since their rivalries years ago.

During a podcast interview in 2019, Koepka lamented DeChambeau’s slowness.

“I just don’t understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball; it’s not that difficult,” Koepka told Michael Weston on the Golf Monthly podcast.

DeChambeau then took jabs at Koepka’s physique during a 2020 Steam Show, implying he was unimpressed with Koepka’s 2019 ESPN Body Issue photo shoot.

“I don’t know if his genetics make him look good to be honest…I mean on the Body Issue, he didn’t even have abs, I can tell you that,” DeChambeau said.

“I have abs.”

In response, Koepka posted a photo on X of his four major trophies, including two from his PGA Championship victories in 2018 and 29119, and wrote: “You were right. I’m missing two six-packs! »

Tensions came to a head during the 2021 PGA Championship, leading to an eye roll from Koepka etched into modern history.

While speaking to Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, Koepka rolled his eyes after losing his train of thought mid-interview due to the clicking sound of DeChambeau’s metal spikes.

“Sometimes, uh, I lost my train of thought hearing this bull****,” Koepka said, according to footage of the exchange posted on social media. “Fuck Christ.”

The golf stars were paired together in the third round of the 2023 PGA Championship, won by Koepka, and appeared completely cordial.

That same year, Koepka posted a wholesome photo of the two together on Instagram, with DeChambeau putting an arm around the five-time major champion.

DeChambeau had support from Koepka and fans Sunday in North Carolina, where he edged Rory McIlroy at 6 under par.

“Tonight,” he said after the victory, according to AP.

“I want all of you, in one way or another, to touch this trophy, because I want you to feel what this feels like for me. You’ve been a part of this journey this week, and I want you to be a part of it for the afterparty.

DeChambeau entered the US Open after finishing second at the PGA Championship and sixth at the 2024 Masters.
