WWE Hall of Famer would be ‘very shocked’ if Becky Lynch joined AEW

When news broke that Becky Lynch was officially set to become a free agent following WWE’s failure to secure her a new long-term contract extension, IWC fans were left with just one question and only one: would “The Man” sign? with AEW?

On paper, the move would make all the sense in the world for Tony Khan and company if they could pull it off, as Lynch is one of the biggest stars in the wide world of wrestling and would attract the kind of attention capable of do it. headlining the sports center on a slow day. Place her in a program with Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship, or have her compete in the Owen Hart Cup for a chance to face Toni Storm at All in and watch a division that was once considered an afterthought become one of AEW’s focal points, right up there with World Champion Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay’s rise to the promotion’s Ace.

Discussing Lynch’s prospects of leaving WWE for the first time since 2013 on his Grill JR podcast, Jim Ross noted that while he would love to see AEW sign “The Man”, who he considers a “player”, he would be very surprised if it actually happened, as she simply has too many ties to the WWE to jump ship. without serious consideration.

“I was in Becky Lynch’s WWE debut back in the day, so consequently, and obviously, I’m a big fan of hers. She’s one of the people who contacts me from time to time and sees how I feel, things of that nature. I have great respect for her and her husband (Seth Rollins), he is also very supportive. So I don’t know anything about his contractual status,” Jim Ross explained on Grill JR via Fighter.

“Obviously, I think we could all agree that if AEW was able to sign talent of his level, it would help. She’s a player, she’s a main-event level player. I think the world of her as a human being. You know my theory about hiring good human beings, it fits that mold perfectly. She is awesome. But I don’t know how determined she is to become a mother. Not that she’s a good or bad mother, she’s obviously an excellent mother. But what if she wants to have more children? It could happen. So anyway, I don’t know what she’s going to do. I would be very shocked if WWE let it go. This doesn’t seem right to me. They invested a lot of money in it. They healed her. She’s famous, she’s a main-level talent, she’s broken a lot of molds. So I’m a big supporter of Becky Lynch, and whatever she does, I support her. I think she’s just an amazing human being and a great mom. Seth Rollins is lucky. He exceeded his media coverage, as they say.

How amazing would it be to see Rebecca Quinn sign on the dotted line to become a member of AEW? All told, Lynch has long been one of WWE’s biggest stars and one of their best in-ring workers and would likely thrive in a promotion that sometimes needs help with storytelling, but never lacks to succeed in the matches. However, unless she Really wants to test herself against the best stars outside of WWE that the wrestling world has to offer, it feels like a return to Fed will eventually happen, even if she takes a few months off before taking its final decision.

Becky Lynch isn’t the only free agent Jim Ross wants to add to AEW.

Elsewhere on Grill JR, Jim Ross discussed the prospects of another WWE free agent, Shane McMahon, signing with AEW, which his co-host, Conrad Thompson, called “crazy.” While JR agreed, he noted that it might be crazy enough to work, as the decision would definitely get fans talking.

“Yeah, that would be the case. It’s so crazy that it could work, depending on how it was positioned and how it was introduced,” Jim Ross explained via Fightful. “Shane called me the other day, he called me a couple of times, which I really appreciate. He has always been sensitive in this regard. That’s only one question Shane could answer. Shane and Tony Khan being together, how would that work creatively, hell, who knows? It could be great. But anyway, it all depends on Shane and what he wants to do.

Would it be amazing to see a McMahon in AEW? Yes. Could he potentially work as part of a one-off appearance, a single storyline, or even as an authority figure in Ring of Honor? Maybe. Will this happen? No, probably not, although it would be incredibly interesting to say the least.
