“Every team” without a confirmed roster sent me an offer

Carlos Sainz reveals there are still several paths open to him for 2025. The Ferrari driver was somewhat blindsided by Lewis Hamilton’s contract with the team in February, and has spent the last four months trying to reposition himself. The consensus is that Sauber and Williams are his two main options. However, Sainz says there are other alternatives.

Two top teams have closed their doors to Carlos Sainz in recent weeks. Mercedes has officially excluded the Spaniard from the competition a few weeks ago, which Toto Wolff made public shortly after.

The Silver Arrows, according to their team director, focus on youth. This confirms lingering expectations that Kimi Antonelli remains a top priority at Mercedes. As the German manufacturer vows to assess the 17-year-old’s progress, Sainz was asked to look for other options.

Meanwhile, Red Bull have secured their 2025 roster by extending Sergio Perez’s contract. Christian Horner made the highly controversial decision to maintain continuity in Milton Keynes.

While many observers say this could cost Red Bull the championship title, it offers little consolation to Sainz. However, the decisions of the favorites reduce the possible destinations for next year.

Carlos Sainz: I will make my decision soon

Speaking on Spanish TV show ‘El Hormiguero’, Sainz spoke about his future:

“I have my options on the table, ready to make a decision. And I will make the decision very soon because I want to put that aside and focus on what’s left of this year with Ferrari.

Some reports indicate the Spaniard could make his decision for 2025 before this weekend’s Spanish GP. Whether or not this speculation is accurate, it seems clear that some clarity will emerge on the three-time winner’s situation:

“There will be time to think about the next team later. But I have a car that allows me to get on podiums and that allowed me to win a race. And I want to focus on that.

Sainz insists there are many options available

Carlos Sainz clarified that many offers were on the table. After playing the wait-and-see game in the first half of 2024, he is ready to commit:

“There isn’t (an option). There are several, I won’t lie to you. All teams that have not entered their two drivers for next year, I’m on their list. They offered me a contract and I could sign with them tomorrow.

“But I won’t sign tomorrow, I will be calm and make a decision soon.”

Williams is increasingly being cited as a realistic destination for the 29-year-old. Team principal James Vowles has already presented himself as the “best option” for Sainz.

Ultimately, as the former Mercedes strategist pointed out in Montreal, it is now up to Sainz to decide what his next chapter will be.
