How Taylor Swift Inspired Gracie Abrams to Stick to ‘Writing Daily’

Gracie Abrams has nothing but good things to say about her partner and collaborator Taylor Swift.

In a recent interview with To carryThe Grammy-nominated singer called Swift an “incredible artist, friend and mentor” — and credited her as “one of the reasons why” she “sticks to writing every day.”

“Now I’m starting to feel bad when I don’t. It’s like eating right, sleeping enough and drinking enough,” Abrams told the outlet. “Writing, for me, is something that helps my brain stay at the basic calm that is necessary for me to function at the highest level possible in all other areas.”

Abrams, 24, opened for Swift’s Eras Tour world tour in April 2023, performing on dates across North America, and is expected to join the “Cruel Summer” singer in late 2024 for one final stop North American tour.

In May, Abrams also announced that she was lucky enough to have the opportunity to write a song alongside the superstar, announcing that Swift was featured on the fifth track from her upcoming album. The secret of us.

On the night of the 2024 Grammy Awards – where Abrams was up for Best New Artist alongside Fred.., Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Kahan, Victoria Monét and The War and Treaty – there was “ something that I ended up feeling much more sincere, authentic and supportive in the room,” Abrams also noted.

“I think what was so moving for me throughout the process, (and) sitting at the table with my fellow nominees, (is) that I got to see them and get to know them up close, outside about what I already admired so deeply about their music,” she said.

Ahead of the release of her upcoming album and to the delight of her fans, Abrams recently released the track “Close to You,” a song she first teased on Instagram nearly seven years prior.
