People are shocked by the difference between tap water and toilet water under a microscope.

Few of us would analyze the extent of harmful bacteria or other parasites in our food or water before consuming it. Maybe people with a habit of cleanliness do, but most would turn a blind eye to these possibilities. Little do we know that even a clean surface, when viewed under a microscope, reveals tons of squirming microorganisms. Passionate about science, Microscope Vision, who goes by @microscope.vision on TikTok, often shows what everyday things look like under a microscope. They recently made a chilling revelation. The video showing a microscopic view of tap water and rainwater shocked many netizens.

At the start of the video, we can see the creator collecting tap water into a transparent dropper, and at first glance, the water is quite clear. However, the chilling truth is revealed once they put it under a microscope. Tap water contained oval-shaped clumps of microorganisms that could be harmful parasites. Additionally, worm-like microbes were moving around with tons of little structures. As they zoomed in further, the organisms seemed frightening enough to send shivers down our spines.

However, this might have been expected in tap water, as you never know what it carries with it as it circulates through the pipes. The real worry begins when the science content creator scoops clear rainwater from the ground into a dropper and reveals it under a microscope. At first, it seems that rainwater contains fewer organisms that float. However, when zoomed in, a confusing visual shows the plethora of oval-shaped, worm-like microbes in the rainwater. Although we don’t know if these are actually harmful parasites, seeing a massive colony of microbes is not a pleasant sight.

The video was viewed over 20 million times and people were completely shocked. “I never want to drink water again,” said @unknownclematis. “There are organisms in everything. Wait until you find out which parasites live in symbiosis with our bodies,” remarked @crimsonrider04. A few others pointed out that the creator collected rainwater from the ground, which explains why there may have been so many microbes. “It would have been more accurate to collect the rainwater in a sterile container and not in the dirty ground,” suggested @samuelvillafranco. “You collected rainwater from the ground. Obviously there will be lots of bacteria and organisms, so collect it as it falls,” @cameronj.j02 added. “All of these microorganisms tend to die when they encounter stomach acid,” noted @gabedavey8.

The presence of micro-organisms in our immediate environment is both an intriguing and frightening reality. Recently, a nurse’s demonstration of how germs spread went viral on the Internet. Molly Lixey, a former emergency room nurse from Michigan, used paint to symbolize the germs we pick up in public places and cardboard for a cell phone. “There are (germs) on my gloves, that’s good, right? It’s on my gloves. But now I’m walking and my phone rings, so I touched my hands a few times .I grab my phone and oh, I have a text from my husband,” she said. As she demonstrated, we can see that the paint sticks to every surface she touches and eventually falls onto her cheek. His experiment explained how we carry unnecessary germs in our daily lives.
