PSG submits a formal offer for the OL striker

In its quest to strengthen its offensive front, PSG have reportedly designated Rayan Cherki as a target. Linked with the capital club last winter, the French U21 international received an offer from PSG management.

As he enters the last year of his contract with his training club, Olympique Lyonnais, Rayan Cherki is experiencing a pivotal moment in his career at the age of 20. The French U21 international has a contract extension offer until 2028, with a reduced salary.

However, his chances of accepting this offer seem slim, as Cherki seems determined to leave his training club this summer. His second option is a contract with PSG.

According to The Team, PSG made Lyon an offer of 15 million euros plus 3 million bonuses to buy out the final year of Cherki’s contract. Our sources add that OL, lacking cash, would have planned to sell the player: “The two parties could quickly come together and find an agreement for a transfer to Paris.”

On the same subject, well-informed PSG insider @Djaameel_ on social media also shared his ideas, stating that “Luis Enrique and Luis Campos really like Rayan Cherki…Luis Enrique thinks he has a profile that could really benefit the team.”

According to internal sources reported by @Djaameel_, “a video call already took place several days ago between the player and Lucho.” This prospect, however, is not unanimous within PSG, with President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi “having always blocked the agreement because he does not particularly like the player’s entourage”.

This information is also confirmed by Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, who adds that Bradley Barcola, transferred from Lyon to Paris last summer, pitched the Rouge & Bleu project to Rayan Cherki.

In addition, Fabrizio Romano confirms the offer of €15M plus bonus made by the management of PSG in Lyon for the French U21 international. However, Lyon have currently rejected this offer, aiming to include a significant resale clause in the deal.

According to RMC Sport, Olympique Lyonnais wishes to secure 30% of any potential future resale of Cherki. Meanwhile, PSG remain confident, and Luis Enrique has already spoken on the phone with the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.
