Gujarat resident shocked after finding fried frog in wafer packet, investigation launched

In another alarming food incident, a resident of Jamnagar in the Indian state of Gujarat found a dead, fried frog in a packet of wafers. Jasmin Patel, a resident of Pushkardham Society, said her nine-year-old niece bought the packet of Balaji Wafers from a nearby shop at 8pm on Tuesday (June 18). After opening it and eating several pieces from the package, they were shocked to find a fried frog inside.

They immediately threw the package away and immediately went to the store owner to complain. After receiving an unsatisfactory response, he called the customer service manager of Balaji Wafers. According to Patel, “A lady picked up the phone and she said I was free to take whatever action I wanted.”

Patel then informed the food wing of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation and reported the food incident. Food branch officials then visited Patel’s house and took a sample from the packet. After confirming the presence of a frog inside the package, they opened a probe and took samples from other packages from the same batch. An investigation is underway to determine how the contamination occurred.

“We received a complaint over the phone from a customer Jasmin Patel, who bought Balaji’s simple crispy salted wafer and found a dead frog. We came to the store where he bought this wafer packet and on seeing the packet , looks like it was a frog inside the packet. We are taking platelet samples of the same batch number from the distribution agency for laboratory testing,” said DB Parmar, safety officer. food from JMC, cited by the Times of India.

Balaji Wafers reiterated its commitment to food hygiene and said it would fully cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues.

Jay Sachdev, marketing director of Balaji Wafers, said it was “not possible” that someone would find a frog inside the package.

“We maintain complete hygiene during the production of snacks in our factory and it is not possible to find frogs inside our snack packs. We allow students to visit our factories every week. Although If JMC opens an investigation, we will cooperate fully,” he said. .
