Euro viewers shocked as Gary Lineker leaves Frank Lampard ‘furious’ with ‘wild’ baldness comment

Euro 2024 viewers were left shocked by a ‘harsh’ comment from Gary Lineker which left Frank Lampard ‘fuming’.

The day before England’s group stage match against Denmark, Lineker, who heads the BBC’s coverage of the sporting tournament, hosted coverage of Germany v Hungary on Wednesday June 19, live from Berlin.

Lineker hosts the shows in an open-air studio outside the gates of Brandenbrug. On the other side of the one seen from the studio, a large screen is installed so that Berliners can follow each match.

Crowds of German sports fans had gathered to watch their country’s victory against Hungary, and Lineker, despite being close to the celebrations of Germany’s two goals, was unable to see the action because of this screen.

On the subject, Lineker said: “I wish they would have taken that screen down because then we would see all the punters, but if they took the screen down they wouldn’t be able to watch the match, wouldn’t they? isn’t it?”

Here, Lampard said: “They would see the back of our heads. No one would show up to that,” to which Lineker replied, “No one wants to see the back of your head these days, do they, Frank?” That’s for sure.”

Viewers took this as a bald joke aimed at the former football professional, who also seemed rather surprised by the comment. After smiling moments before, he suddenly became very serious and seemed to squirm in his chair while Lineker, after an awkward silence, moved the conversation forward.

A video has since gone viral on X/Twitter, with one user writing: “Gary Lineker just completely bodied Frank Lampard on live TV.” Lampard’s face kills me. Smoke.

Lineker said The rest is football podcast that he will apologize to Lampard, admitting the joke “is a bit off”.

He said: “Obviously Frank was getting a little thinner, I was getting a little thinner, and actually I thought that about everyone. But when it came out, the result was a bit wrong. And you know Frank does that thing where he smiles, and then suddenly he doesn’t smile anymore?

Many called the comment “wild” and highlighted the moment when Lampard realizes what Lineker has just said. He didn’t take it well!! Poor guy ! wrote one viewer.

“He didn’t have to do Frank like that,” another person wrote, with another football fan saying: “Gary Lineker was never booked in his playing career but this defo deserved at least a yellow .”
