Shocked shoppers discover new ‘twist’ of classic British biscuit on supermarket shelves

McVitie’s has quietly launched a brand new ‘version’ of one of the most classic British biscuits of all time.

And buyers were quite surprised by the news.

Since new product launches tend to be something one shops around for, companiesAnd food builders shout from the rooftops every chance they get, you’ll probably understand why TESCO Customers were left in shock after spotting what is apparently a brand new biscuit on store shelves.

In the absence of what appears to be prior reference or inducement to the product, McVitie’s has just launched a new cocoa-flavored twist on the humble Rich Tea biscuit, and it’s only found in Tesco.

People took to social media to share their sightings of the new choccy biccie in their local stores this week – including popular UK food-spotting accounts like @newfoodsuk And @newfoodfindsuk.

At this point, it’s pretty hard to give you much more information about the new chocolate treat, other than the fact that it… exists.

Indeed, a quick Google search of the biscuit’s apparent name, “McVitie’s Rich Tea: The Cocoa One”, provides almost nothing about the product, and it does not yet appear to be listed on Tesco’s website, which suggests that probably means you can only get your hands on one if you actually shop in-store.

Also, when we went to the little Tesco Express next to The Manc’s office earlier today to see if we could find them, we sadly left empty-handed* (read to the end of the article to see what we found). did find instead), so we imagine they’re just hiding out in the bigger stores or Tesco Extra stores for now.

However, from the photos and videos shared by online shoppers, what we do know is that the new product should be distinguished from the already existing famous milk chocolate-covered Rich Teas – which are a mainstay in shelves of UK stores for several years now. – because there is no real chocolate coating on these.

Instead, the cookie itself is cocoa flavored, so it’s basically everything you know and love about Rich Tea, only more chocolaty (if that’s a word).

“A cocoa twist on the classic” is how McVitie’s described it on brand.

We can also see that, as mentioned, the new biscuits are currently exclusive to Tesco, where a pack will cost you £1.25 each with a Clubcard or £1.80 without.

We’re betting they’ll be rolling out to more supermarkets and stores in the near future, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.
