Atlantic 10 Announces Record Commissioner Honor Roll

WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Thursday that a record 4,155 student-athletes received Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is the highest total in league history and marks the fifth consecutive year that the total number of honorees has exceeded 3,500.

The total exceeds the record set in 2023-2024 of 3,953 recipients. This year, a record 413 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA, representing 10 percent of the total number of honorees. Additionally, 65 percent of the honorees, or 2,700 student-athletes, recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better for the academic year. The league also set a record with an average of 277 honorees per school.

“Year after year, our student-athletes perform at the highest levels, setting records for the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in terms of total number of honorees, surpassing 4,000 for the first time in league history” , said A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “Commitment to top academics is a hallmark of the Atlantic 10 conference, and I congratulate each of our honorees and our member institutions for prioritizing the educational experience and academic success.”

Designed to recognize excellence in the classroom, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10 sponsored sport at a full member institution must have a fall and spring semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year to be selected for the Commissioner’s Honor. To roll. Freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award. In each of the past seven years, the league has honored more than 3,000 student-athletes annually.

Massachusetts had the most honorees with 370, followed by Fordham with 342. George Mason was third with 327 student-athletes honored, and Davidson (319) and Saint Joseph’s (315) finished in the top five. Rhode Island was just outside the top five, finishing sixth with 282 award winners. The class is made up of 18.4 percent (766 total honorees) freshmen, 22.8 percent (949 total) sophomores, 21.8 percent (908 total) total) of juniors and 27.41 percent (1,130 in total) of seniors. There were 389 graduating students honored, representing 9.3 percent of the class.

The top three women’s sports were women’s cross country/track and field with 519 winners, women’s soccer (383 winners) and women’s lacrosse (306 winners). The top three men’s sports were men’s cross country/track and field (398 honorees), baseball (360 honorees), and men’s soccer (303 honorees).
