East Rockford traffic stop results in gun theft charges

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rockford Police arrest two people from Beloit after a traffic stop.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, Rockford Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block of E State Street.

During the check, officers found two handguns, one of which was reported stolen from Boone County.

The two people in the car, Erik Medoza Ballesteros, 22, and Saivianna Rowell, 21, were arrested.

Mendoza Ballesteros and Rowell face charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a defaced firearm.
