‘Really shocked’… Daniel Sturridge can’t believe what he just saw involving Cole Palmer at Euro 2024

Chelsea players have found the start of Euro 2024 quite difficult to establish themselves and take ownership of the tournament.

Romelu Lukaku faced plenty of criticism for his performance in the opening match, but fans were a little more sympathetic to Mykhailo Mudryk’s efforts in Ukraine’s defeat.

The only country to have two representatives at Chelsea is England, with Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher in Germany.

Neither have yet started a match for their country, with the club captain for most of last season used as a first substitute in both matches.

Some have been left perplexed by Palmer’s treatment, having enjoyed one of the best first seasons at a new club in Premier League history.

One character who has shared how confused he is about the whole thing is Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge shocked, Palmer yet to play at Euro 2024

The former Blues striker took to Twitter to share how stunned he is that he has yet to see the Chelsea man on the pitch.

He said: “I’m really shocked we haven’t seen Cole Palmer on the pitch yet.”

The youngster is already set to enjoy another season where he will be the key man at Stamford Bridge, this time for new manager Enzo Maresca instead of Mauricio Pochettino.

Palmer expected to play number 10 role next season

If reports are to be believed, it could be a spell in the number 10 role rather than overall, but that may depend on whether they are currently signing their top transfer target.

It has been claimed that they would be very interested in the arrival of Michael Olise, who would appear to fit exactly the system that the former Leicester City boss is known for.

The Frenchman would certainly be an improvement on Noni Madueke, despite his strong end to last season at Stamford Bridge which saw him become a regular.
