Jude Bellingham makes his feelings on former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson clear with public message

Jordan Henderson was a surprise omission from Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad. The former Liverpool skipper didn’t even make provisional selection for England, despite having long been one of manager’s favorites – but he has now received a public message from Jude Bellingham. .

Bellingham’s rise has of course played a part in Henderson being sidelined at international level, while his former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold takes up another place in midfield. But the 34-year-old probably also inadvertently sabotaged his own prospects, moving to Saudi Arabia last summer before joining struggling Ajax after six months.

Even so, most thought he would make the England squad, having been a regular fixture until the final pre-tournament camp. Instead, Henderson finds himself preparing for his first full campaign with Ajax, a situation he simply couldn’t have imagined when he packed his bags and left Liverpool a year ago.

Yet, characteristically, Henderson approaches his new situation with full commitment. He showed up at Ajax earlier than expected, posting a photo on Instagram showing he is back in action.

“Let’s get back to it,” was the caption, accompanied by a muscle emoji. And among those who left a comment was Bellingham.

Currently away with England, scoring the winning goal in the first group match, Bellingham nevertheless found time to send a public message to Henderson. “My brother,” he commented, showing his support for his former international colleague.

Adam Lallana recently highlighted the bond Bellingham and Henderson had formed as part of their national duty. He called it a “striking” relationship, with the former Liverpool captain serving as something of a mentor to the young superstar.
