Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau conducted a traffic stop on Streets Ferry Road in Vanceboro, North Carolina. Investigators identified the driver of the vehicle as Shaquan Otrell Green. During the traffic stop, investigators found probable cause to search the vehicle and found approximately 45 grams of fentanyl concealed in Green’s pants.


Investigators and detectives with the New Bern Police Narcotics Department executed a search warrant at Green’s residence in Vanceboro. Green’s girlfriend, Tia Nicole Bowen, and her three children were present at the residence when investigators and detectives arrived. During the search, investigators found approximately 18 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of cocaine, 10 oxycodone pills, $4,705 in cash and a firearm.


Shaquan Otrell Green, 30, of Vanceboro, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with:


Two counts of trafficking in heroin/fentanyl


Green was transported to the Craven County Detention Center and presented to the magistrate. He was not given bail because he was previously out on bond on other charges and was scheduled to make his first appearance on June 24, 2024 at the Craven County Courthouse in the courtroom. hearing number 4, at 9 a.m.


Tia Nicole Bowen, 33, of Vanceboro, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with:


Two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance

Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance

Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for Controlled Substances

Child abuse

Two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia


Bowen was transported to the Craven County Detention Center and presented to the magistrate. She was given a $150,000 secured bond and her first appearance is scheduled for June 24, 2024 at the Craven County Courthouse in Courtroom Number 4 at 9 a.m.
