Brandy directs A24’s latest horror film: “The Front Room”

“The House Is Mine,” A24 wrote in an Instagram caption, revealing a first look at his latest horror film – starring none other than Brandy. Titled The front roomA24’s bizarre new foray is based on a book of the same name and is set for release worldwide this fall.

According to the plot of the psychological thriller: “Everything goes to hell for newly pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her stepmother (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As the evil guest attempts to get its claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…”

Written and directed by Max Eggers and Sam Eggers, The front room also stars Andrew Burnap as Brandy’s husband and Neil Huff.

“Your father’s last request was that he wanted you to take your mother into your home,” Huff told Burnap after his father’s recent death.

“This is my room now,” Hunter replies as he settles in.

As the two-and-a-half minute trailer picks up, the tension between the couple and their new resident intensifies, with Burnap’s mother continuing to pressure and investigate a pregnant Brandy with questioning at racist character.

“She thinks the Holy Spirit is possessing her and giving her power,” Burnap explains to Brandy, as her mother begins to descend into a sinister spiral.

“When you’re cooped up with a newborn and a mother-in-law, it can drive anyone crazy,” Brandy concludes.
