Real Madrid target Leny Yoro alternative as Federico Chiesa ‘offer’ to rival Liverpool

Liverpool’s rivals have started to get to work during the summer transfer window. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Everton all appear to be making deals with each other in their attempts to circumvent the Premier League’s PSR regulations.

The Reds, meanwhile, seem happy to bide their time to find the right targets for Arne Slot’s first season in charge. Of course, Euro 2024 and the Copa America will make things more difficult for sporting director Richard Hughes.

Nonetheless, there is currently a lot of speculation surrounding Liverpool’s rivals. In fact, most of the rumors so far seem to involve the Reds and Real Madrid.

Here, Liverpool.com takes a look at the Premier League and across the continent to see what’s happening at Liverpool’s rivals, with Real once again, unsurprisingly, involved.

Real Madrid identify alternative to Leny Yoro

Real Madrid are interested in Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, although Spurs have no plans to let the 26-year-old leave, according to Football Insider. It is claimed that Los Blancos would have to make an “astronomical” offer for Tottenham to even consider selling Romero.

The report comes amid the ongoing race for Lille star Leny Yoro, who Liverpool are also chasing. According to Sports Zone, the teenager has agreed to join Real and is prepared to wait a year if they cannot agree on a fee this summer, with his contract expiring in 12 months.

Liverpool.com says: If Spurs decide to move, it could help Liverpool a lot. It appears Yoro is determined to move to Madrid, although the Spanish giant appears to be playing hardball on fees.

If they’re willing to spend on Romero, that could indicate they have other plans. The door could then be opened for Liverpool to pounce on Yoro.

Federico Chiesa ‘offered’ to Manchester United

Juventus could offer Federico Chiesa to Manchester United in a potential deal for Mason Greenwood, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Greenwood spent last season on loan in Spain and could leave Old Trafford this summer.

Chiesa has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool in recent times. He is currently with Italy at Euro 2024, having played against Albania and Spain so far.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool would do well to let United and Juventus do this, if this is indeed in the works. Chiesa has been linked to the Reds a lot over the past year, but his injury record certainly doesn’t give you confidence.
