All-Metro Water Polo First Team







Trent Batten, Oakville

Trent Batten, Oakville


Trent Batten, senior, Oakville/Mehlville

Batten had another good season that resulted in his second straight first-team All-Metro selection. He finished second among region players with 137 goals and second in the region’s scoring race with 344 points and 70 assists for the combined team known as “The Ville”, which finished fourth in the Missouri Water Polo District Tournament.

Aidan Brawer, senior, SLUH

Brawer was a do-it-all player for Missouri water polo district champion Junior Billikens. In addition to strong defensive play, he scored 64 goals and dished out 51 assists for 179 points, with the latter two categories ranking him 11th in the region.

Bryant earned his second straight first-team All-Metro nod after another strong season for the district runner-up Colts. He tallied 78 goals, which tied him for eighth in the region, and added 69 assists, which ranked him fifth, for a total of 225 points, seventh among area scorers.

Josh Niermann, senior, SLUH

Niermann shined between the pipes to help the Junior Billikens increase their record number of Missouri water polo district titles to 23. MWP Defensive Player of the Year Wil Edens posted a 16-4 record and a 7.04 goals-against average, ranking him second among Defensive Players of the Year. goalkeepers in the region, while making 191 saves, fifth best in the region.

Noah Schott, senior, Lafayette/Eureka

Schott made his mark offensively this season for the Lancers, who were a combined team with the usually rival Wildcats. He scored 152 goals and amassed 353 points, both marks ranking first among area players, and he also added 49 assists.







Matt Wedlock, Kirkwood

Matt Wedlock, Kirkwood


Matt Wedlock, senior, Kirkwood

Wedlock had a strong spring campaign for the Pioneers, who finished third in the Missouri water polo district tournament. MWP Dick Newman Offensive Player of the Year scored 103 goals, fourth among area players, and compiled 228 points, which placed him sixth in the region’s scoring race.

Evan Zimmerman, junior, SLUH

Zimmerman shined on both ends of the pool for Missouri water polo district champion Junior Billikens. He scored 76 goals and 171 points this spring and made the biggest defensive play of the MWP title game, making a game-saving steal and an empty-net insurance goal in the final seconds.

All-Metro Water Polo Second Team

Alan Conway, junior, Parkway Central

Conway, the younger brother of All-Metro Player of the Year Ian Conway, had a good season himself for the Missouri water polo district runner-up Colts, scoring 40 goals and adding 24 assists for 104 points.

Neveah Kerber, junior, Marquette

Kerber, Missouri’s women’s water polo player of the year, led the Mustangs to an undefeated season and an MWP girls’ district tournament title, scoring 93 goals and accumulating 203 points, both second among players in the region.

Jeremiah Koenig, senior, Parkway South

Koenig was an offensive powerhouse for the Patriots, scoring 127 goals and compiling 266 points, which ranked third among all area players.

Christian Marren, senior, CBC

Marren was the Cadets’ go-to forward, accumulating 95 goals and 199 points, which placed him sixth and 10th, respectively, among area players.

Ben Pantazo, senior, Oakville/Mehlville

Pantazo was a solid second offensive option for “The Ville” behind first-team All-Metro player Trent Batten with 102 goals and 254 assists, both of which placed him in the top five in the region.

Owen Waeckerle, sophomore, Lafayette/Eureka

Waeckerle had a stellar sophomore season for the Lancers as he led the region with 85 assists while scoring 69 goals and compiling 213 points, a total that placed him eighth in the region’s scoring race.

Nick Zimmerman, sophomore, SLUH

Zimmerman teamed up with his brother, first-team All-Metro player Evan Zimmerman, for a memorable final minute of the district championship game, as he buried the eventual game winner for the now 23-time Junior champion Billikens.

All-Metro Water Polo Third Team

Cassidy Kerber, freshman, Marquette

Kerber, the cousin of second-team All-Metro selection Neveah Kerber, made an instant impact on the undefeated district champion Mustangs with 66 goals and 159 points, both third among area players.

Ben Livak, senior, Parkway West

Livak had a solid season overall for the Longhorns, scoring 41 goals while adding 54 assists – tied for eighth in the region – for 136 points.

Alexa Matoushek, junior, Oakville/Mehlville

Matoushek has been an offensive force in women’s water polo this season, leading the region with 119 goals and 280 points while recording 42 assists.

Danny McAuliffe, junior, SLUH

McAuliffe was a defensive stalwart while helping support the Junior Billikens’ Missouri water polo district championship run, also tallying 27 goals and 83 points.

Patrick McCollum, senior, Parkway North

McCollum had another strong offensive campaign for the Vikings, scoring 90 goals and amassing 206 points, which placed them seventh and ninth, respectively, among all area players.

Jacob Pantazo, senior, Oakville/Mehlville

Pantazo had a strong regular season for “The Ville,” which finished third in the Missouri Water Polo District Tournament, scoring 58 goals and racking up 48 assists and 164 points, all ranked in the top 15 in the region.

Mikey Skale, junior, Chaminade

Skale has been a solid offensive contributor for the Red Devils this season, scoring 72 goals and 166 points, which places him in the top 15 in the region in both categories.
