TN Hooch tragedy: BJP attacks DMK, questions silence of bloc leaders INDIA

New Delhi, June 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the DMK government following the tragedy in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakuruchi district that resulted in the loss of more than of 56 lives, mainly due to the Dalit community.

Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra questioned the silence of the Congress and other Indian bloc leaders over the tragedy as well as the state government’s “complicity” .

Holding the state government responsible for the deaths of 56 people, the BJP called it a “state-sponsored murder” and asked why the chief minister, MK Stalin, was not clear on the question.

“When will he make a statement about the deaths of so many people? Why did the collector deny deaths from fake liquor and try to deflect the issue? Were there any directives from the highest leadership? » he questioned.

Criticizing the Congress for remaining silent on an issue of national importance, Patra questioned the silence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other members of the INDIA bloc.

“This is a murder and not an accident. Many Dalits have lost their lives and yet everyone remains silent. It is simply because this case does not suit their political interests,” he said. -he declares.

“I don’t want to distinguish deaths based on caste, but the people who organize candle marches, the people who fight for Dalit rights, where are these people today?” He asked.

The tragedy notably unfolded in Karunapuram village, a Dalit-dominated area in Kallakurichi, where illicit alcohol led to the deaths of more than 56 people, with many others seriously ill and around 200 people still hospitalized.

The BJP spokesperson further highlighted the long-standing operation of illicit liquor trade in Karunapuram and demanded answers on the alleged complicity between administration officials and those behind the illicit trade of alcohol.

“This company had existed in the city for many decades and was known to everyone, within the police and the administration,” he added.

“My question to Chief Minister MK Stalin is: Are you complicit or not? Who will answer on your behalf?” he said when asked what action he expected from the Tamil Nadu government in the tragedy that claimed the lives of over 50 people.
