Vernon City Council considers moving bus shelter – Vernon News

Security concerns move shelter

Vernon City Council will consider moving the 34th Street bus shelter following concerns about fire and safety.

City staff previously informed council that two fires had been reported at the shelter near the Wholesale Club.

The bus shelter is co-funded by BC Transit, which confirms that the bus shelter can be moved.

In administrative updates ahead of Monday’s regular meeting, employees say; “Administration will move the shelter to a stop on Route 5 on South Vernon Drive when there is availability in the summer construction schedule. »

The bus stop on 34th Street will remain, but the shelter will be replaced with a typical pole and sign.
