Badgers news: 2026 Ohio QB enjoys visit to Madison, expects fall return

The Wisconsin Badgers hosted 2026 quarterback Jarin Mock for a visit last week, with the Ohio native practicing at one of the team’s camps this past Sunday.

Mock, who received an offer from the Badgers in May, has now received five scholarship offers during his recruitment.

How was the experience visiting the quarterback?

“I got there first, and I wasn’t expecting any of this, but they had, like, this little red carpet, and they had us jumping around to get into the recruiting center, so it was an experience pretty nice,” Mock said of the visit. “And then they showed us around the city (like) a treasure hunt. So yeah, it was pretty fun.

In addition to the visit, Mock seemed to impress with his performance at Badgers camp, which was his first meeting with head coach Luke Fickell.

“It felt good. You know, this is my first time in front of Coach Fickell (and) he’s a pretty good guy. I feel like I did pretty well today and I’ll definitely be back in the fall.

Mock also had the opportunity to meet with offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who extended the offer to the quarterback last month, as the two continued their ongoing discussions about the visit, with the offensive coordinator sharing his knowledge on the offensive.

The quarterback feels the pull of Wisconsin because the Badgers’ offense is similar to his high school, which added to the experience.

“I feel like here at Wisconsin they were running the same offense that we were running at our high school, so it was like, ‘It’s kind of the same thing.’ So it was a pretty fun experience just sitting down with (Coach Longo), seeing what was going through his mind as he was going through the game and calling plays.

While Mock has five offers, with Central Michigan being his latest, the quarterback has had a busy summer, with a number of camps scheduled. In addition to Wisconsin, Mock has or will visit Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa State and Marshall this summer.

But he had a good experience in Madison during his visit and will consider making a return trip to Wisconsin in the fall as his discussions continue with the Badgers.
