Charli

Charli XCX silenced her fans who screamed “Taylor (Swift) is dead!” in Portuguese on Sunday during her PARTYGIRL DJ set at a nightclub in São Paulo.

“Can the people who do this stop? Online or during my shows. This is the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate this,” Charli wrote on her Instagram story.

Earlier this month, Charli fans also attacked Swift when she released a UK-exclusive digital version of her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, as it was the same week as the latest release Charli’s album, “Brat.” Fans believe this has blocked Charli’s chances of reaching number one in the official UK charts.

Rumors are also starting to swirl that the song “Sympathy is a knife” on “Brat” was written about Swift. Charli previously hinted that the song was inspired by an anonymous girl who “exploits my insecurities.”

The song’s lyrics said: “I don’t know if it’s real or if I’m spiraling… A voice tells me they’re laughing.” George says I’m just paranoid…I don’t want to see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show. I cross my fingers behind my back. I hope they break up soon.

The reason behind this is that Charil is engaged to 1975 drummer George Daniel and Swift was dating their singer Matty Healy.

Charli was also an opener alongside Camila Cabello for Swift during her 2018 Reputation Tour, and previously said that after that experience she was done opening for other artists. “I’m really grateful that (Taylor) invited me to come on this tour. But as an artist, I felt like I was going on stage and waving to 5-year-olds,” she said. “I finally gotta own my own king shit.”

However, Charli never addressed the rumors or commented negatively about Swift following the release of “Brat.”
