“Sometimes I’m hard to love”

CHICAGO (WJW) – Justin Timberlake has made his first public comments since his arrest for alleged drunken driving.

Timberlake, 43, told the crowd at a tour stop that he had had a “tough week.”

“We’ve been through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” he told the crowd at his Chicago concert on June 21, according to Today.com.

“I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you continue to love me and I will love you back,” he said.

Timberlake did not specifically mention the arrest.

A Hamptons officer reported seeing Timberlake go through a stop sign and fail to stay in his lane twice, according to a complaint filed by Sag Harbor police.

Police said Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanated from his breath, he was unable to divide his attention, he had slowed speaking, he was unsteady and he had poor results on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Timberlake told police he had drunk “a martini” and allegedly refused to take a breathalyzer test. Hours after being taken into custody, Timberlake appeared in court, where he was arraigned and released without bail.

In a statement to KTLA from Nexstar following Timberlake’s arrest, Edward Burke Jr., his attorney, said he “looked forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations.”

“I will have a lot to say when the time comes, but I am currently awaiting complete information from the prosecutor’s office,” he added.

Timberlake’s next court date is scheduled for July 26, but he is not required to appear in person. This works in his favor, as he is scheduled to bring his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” to Krakow, Poland that day.

Before traveling abroad, Timberlake is scheduled to perform in New York; Boston; Baltimore; Hersey, Pennsylvania; Cleveland; and Lexington, Kentucky.
