The Jazz & Beyond Festival Committee announces that the winner of its 2024 Poster and Program Cover Competition is Carol Foldvary-Anderson.

Its design, “More than jazz!” was selected from six submissions to highlight the 21st annual Carson City Music Festival.

Foldvary-Anderson is a multimedia, award-winning, and Nevada Arts Council grant winner, best known for her calligraphy work and the oil pastel smudging technique she invented. Currently, she plans to move towards creating digital images with her artistic talents.

This is Foldvary-Anderson’s second win in the Jazz and Beyond poster competition. To see more of her work, visit http://www.varycarol.com.

The Jazz & Beyond festival will feature approximately 30 free concerts at venues throughout Carson City. It opens with the Reno Jazz Orchestra led by its new music director, Greg Johnson, on August 16 outdoors at the Governor’s Mansion.

The country-themed day at Silver Saddle Ranch will take place on August 18th. The festival will include the Mile High Jazz Band on Count Basie’s birthday, August 21, on the McFadden Plaza stage, and close with Mighty Mike Schermer’s blues band on August 26. .

The original works submitted to the competition, individually valued between $250 and $500, will be drawn at random during concerts. The winning tickets will be drawn at random during the closing concert on August 26. The winner does not need to be present.
