Daily Schmankerl: Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich says there are fewer egos in the locker room than there were a few years ago; Will FC Barcelona use Nike money for Erling Haaland blockbuster?; Denis Undav returned to Brighton & Hove Albion?; Mats Hummels in Mallorca?; and more!

Bayern Munich’s reputation for having a high-maintenance locker room is well deserved.

However, Joshua Kimmich says the Bavarians actually had an even bigger ego in the dressing room when he started with the first team in 2015/2016.

“When I started at Bayern nine years ago, there were a lot more egos in the dressing room than today, as well as in the national team after the 2014 World Cup. I don’t think we Let’s be a generation of selfish people, on the contrary, as I’m experiencing now. I think that this kind of thing is often interpreted from the outside when we don’t win or when there is general unrest. Kimmich said.

Kimmich may be right. Robert Lewandowski, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribéry, Arturo Vidal, Philipp Lahm, Thiago Alcântara, Jérôme Boateng, Manuel Neuer, David Alaba among others… yeah, they’re egos.

FC Barcelona may be considering using their Nike money (and influence) to bring Erling Haaland from Manchester City to Catalonia.

Barcelona are preparing an ambitious plan over the next three years to attract stars such as Erling Haaland and William Saliba to the Camp Nou.

The Catalan side have been in financial doldrums in recent years, forcing them to work on a shoestring budget as they try to keep pace with rivals Real Madrid. Witness their struggle to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, currently available for just €55 million.

As a source close to the club told FootballTransfers: “Barcelona are back! »

The ultimate aim of this deal is to negotiate transfers for superstars like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Arsenal’s William Saliba, although there is clearly no immediate solution for Hansi Flick’s side.

President Joan Laporta believes the catalyst for the club’s revival will be a kit deal with Nike that will bring in more than €150 million per season.

According to sources, this will provide the cash injection to attract Haaland and Saliba to the club.

Barca want Haaland to fill the void left by Lionel Messi when he joined PSG in the summer of 2021. The money from Nike is intended to cover his transfer fee and salary, with the Norway international having refused to commit to its long-term future. City, where manager Pep Guardiola has hinted he could leave next summer.

Saliba, meanwhile, is seen as a long-term solution to Barcelona’s defensive woes.

VfB Stuttgart star and German international Deniz Undav is aiming to stay in Germany, but he is speaking to his parent club’s new boss, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hürzeler:

Deniz #Undav confirms our news that there were phone calls with Fabian Hürzeler!

“There was contact and a phone call with Fabi. He told me what he thought of me. I explained my point of view to him,” Undav explained today.

Hürzeler absolutely wants to bring him back to @OfficialBHAFC.

But Undav is expected to stay at VfB Stuttgart. Negotiations and discussions between the clubs are ongoing.

@VfB can trigger a purchase option of around 20 million euros. Brighton could immediately exercise a buyout option in response to this!
