DA’s office announces reorganization – Pleasanton Weekly

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will include two new divisions under a reorganization announced Friday.

The Gender Justice Division and the Justice Advancement Division will consolidate several individual units, District Attorney Pamela Price said in a news release.

“Gender is often an element of power dynamics, including the abuse of power, which can lead to aggressive behavior, sexual exploitation and violent confrontations in our communities,” Price said.

The division will include the Anti-Slavery Prosecution Unit, the Sexual Assault Unit, the Family Justice Center, the Victim and Witness Division and the Domestic Violence Prosecution Units, which handle misdemeanor and crimes, Price said.

The Advancing Justice Division will include the Division of Juvenile Justice, Collaborative Courts, Office for Civil Rights, and Office of Consumer Justice.

Price, the first African-American woman to serve as the county’s top prosecutor, is the target of a recall measure alleging her progressive reform agenda was too soft on criminals and led to an increase in crime .

She is the first prosecutor in county history to face recall.
