Personal message from David Muir to his good friend Kelly Ripa’s family on an important day

David Muir and Kelly Ripa go back a long way, and the TV duo has a lot of love for each other and their respective families.

That much was clear to all this weekend, as David took to Instagram to comment on a special post uploaded by the Live host.

Kelly had wished her mother, Esther, a happy 83rd birthday, alongside a loving tribute and a series of family photos.

THE 20/20 the presenter was quick to respond, lovingly writing: “Essie!” the affectionate nickname he gives to his friend’s mother. Kelly and her husband Mark Consuelos have been friends with David for decades.

When Kelly published her book, Live wirein September 2022, she gave special mention to David, calling him “the backbone and moral compass that I sometimes need.”

David stays with Kelly and Mark at their Hamptons home every summer and in a previous appearance on Live in November 2022, the World News Tonight The star reflected on his time spent with Kelly.

During the episode, the Live wire The author told his friend, “I kind of miss our weekends together,” and David then mentioned that they often spent days by the pool and barbecued together, early in summer. She even revealed that her kids loved having David over, especially when it came to barbecues and other fun summer activities.

“You are a great grill master, your cheeseburgers are delicious,” Kelly exclaimed. “Joaquin would rather eat at David’s than anywhere else on earth,” which left David smiling.

David was also one of Kelly and Mark’s biggest supporters when they announced their new co-hosting partnership on Live in 2022, following the departure of Ryan Seacret.

After Kelly shared a BTS clip on social media from the first day of filming with Mark, David wrote, “The most beautiful full circle. Congratulations.”

Most recently, in 2023, David appeared on Live to talk about going on vacation with Kelly and Mark, and how it didn’t really go as planned! The star joked he was still “recovering” after heading out with “two of the fittest people” – and it looked like it was quite a trip!

He said: “I think it’s good that it’s aches week because honestly it sounds funnier than it is, but when you go on holiday with these two – both people fittest people on the planet – then you go to convalesce for about three”. four weeks, so I’m just starting to feel better.”

Explaining that they had been to all the “small islands” of Greece where they were “outnumbered by goats”, David told the audience that Mark was responsible for moving the group around with his high-tech Google Maps app .

He said: “We would take these trails, we weren’t always convinced but he (Mark) always found the way… but there was this one time when we were so high up on the hills and the water was beautiful .. and Mark led the way, and then Kelly…. and it was near the edge (of the water)… you could hear the stones…”

Kelly then chimed in: “It was like, are we going to go on World News Tonight?” “With me, but in a bad way,” David joked. “The headline would be ‘David Muir and Others Found at Bottom of Ravine,'” Kelly added.

“I couldn’t tell them how scary it was until we were at the top. It was the biggest scare,” David concluded. Luckily, all three popular ABC hosts lived to tell the tale and had a lot of fun reliving their vacation adventures on the show.
