Recruitment of police officers for 2022 is not canceled — Police Commission

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has categorically refuted recent claims circulating on social media suggesting the cancellation of its 2022 police recruitment exercise.

In a statement addressing misinformation, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani clarified that such reports are unfounded and misleading.

“The Commission has not and will not cancel the final list of successful candidates during the recruitment exercise, which was conducted in strict compliance with the relevant guidelines and provisions of the law,” Ani stressed.

He further asserted PSC’s control over the situation, saying the recruitment portal has been restored to its original state.

Ani urged successful candidates to ignore what he described as deliberate attempts by certain groups to discredit the Commission’s efforts in executing a transparent and inclusive recruitment process.

Highlighting the Commission’s commitment to upholding federal character, gender sensitivity and merit as essential principles of recruitment, Ani warned against any action to undermine its process.

“The Commission reaffirms that the portal is now fully functional and accessible. Candidates can now log in and access all its features without any interruption,” assured Ani.

Acknowledging the challenges previously encountered during the recruitment process, Ani assured the public of enhanced security of the platform and reiterated the PSC’s willingness to address any concerns.

The dispute between the CPS and the Nigerian Police over the recruitment of police officers continues, with allegations of missing names and accusations of corruption.

The PSC challenged the NPF to support these claims with evidence while maintaining confidence in the integrity of its candidate selection and calling for a forensic audit of both organizations’ rosters.
