However, her admiration quickly turned into abuse, she claims.

After “about a week and a half of dating,” Lane suggested Hubert-Ross move into an “expensive” apartment, co-rented with Lane’s friend Will. Hubert-Ross expressed disapproval of the proposed living situation, which led to “frequent and routine” arguments between the couple, according to the complaint.

Although other concerns were raised, his “biggest” was that “Hubert-Ross believed that Will had a homosexual romantic interest in Lane and that if they lived together, Will and Lane would engage in a romantic affair.” This disagreement over living conditions led to two separate cases of battery,” the complaint states.

Hubert-Ross alleges in the complaint that on July 26, 2024, the couple went to a New York bar called O’Hanlon’s, where she and Lane again began arguing over living conditions. Their conversation was reportedly heated and Lane is accused of “(forcefully) shoving Hubert-Ross at the bar and in public.”

“As the night progressed, Lane alternated between berating and ignoring Hubert-Ross due to his insecurities regarding his previous casual relationship,” she claims.

After returning home, “now early in the morning of August 8, 2024,” Lane continued to confront Hubert-Ross about his previous relationship. He would have “become extremely angry, raising his voice and insulting Hubert-Ross,” she adds. in the complaint.

During their argument, Lane “accidentally revealed” that he was still in contact with an ex, Hubert-Ross continues in the complaint. She alleges she saw messages in Lane’s cell phone where he told his ex “that she was the only one for him and that Lane often woke up thinking about her, when he was in bed with Hubert-Ross.”

She then claims that Lane “snatched” her phone and “violently threw her into the stove” where she was left “stunned and shocked by what had just happened.”

His complaint alleges that this was “only the beginning of Lane’s violent assault and attempted murder.”

Lane allegedly “dragged her into the bathroom” and threw her in the bathtub, with a 115-pound Hubert-Ross left defenseless against “physical assault.” The alleged assault then moved to their living room where Hubert-Ross said she was able to grab Lane’s phone during the fight and “sent screenshots of Lane’s text messages with his ex to his phone” to alert her “friends and family of what had happened in the event where Lane killed her.
